The Haitian Foundation for Social Assistance (FHAS) is founded for public benefit in Haiti and it will operate with all Haitian communities throughout the world to accomplish a well-defined, articulated mission for education, promotion of spiritual values, motivation, emergency preparation against catastrophes, welfare services.
We firmly agree on working for a sustaining life.
For everyone in the Haitian Foundation for Social Assistance, Inc. our mission is to support the Haitian poor to sustain themselves adequately.
Development does not mean to focus on helping people survive day to day, by providing emergency food and other daily needs. When somebody does so, he offers to this individual a way to become too dependent. FHAS is to offer to everyone a means to live proudly by gaining his own food and become self-sustaining.
Our philosophy is to be focused on helping communities sustain a good quality of life in an environment that is maintained over the long term.
Sustainable development means finding ways to support communities while preserving the natural resources that people depend on. This approach balances the immediate needs of the community, the long-term needs, and the environment in which they live.
