Vision:

The programs of the Haitian Foundation for Social Assistance (FHAS) should work effectively and efficiently toward achievement of its mission and FHAS is committed to continuous improvement based on the values of quality, responsibility, and accountability, FHAS board members, volunteers, and employees must act in the best interest of the achievement of its mission at all times.

Help the Haitian’s environment to revive.

FHAS will be involved in many projects of reforestation and community development. Because we assume that there are many ways for developing communities to survive in an environment that survives too. In fact, the two are usually interlinked.

Communities can be supported to plant new trees of different kinds. Farmers will receive incentives per unit of trees planted and cared for. This will help to anchor the topsoil and reduce damage from flooding. Planting fruit trees can give farmers a new crop to eat and sell. Planting a tree in Haiti will be a source of income for farmers.

As in other poor countries, farmers are learning new agricultural techniques like composting, using organic pest controls and learning how to grow different kinds of vegetables. A program like ours could be very appropriate for Haiti.

The community could still live in the same region, with the same climate, soil and seeds that couldn’t grow enough food before, will now be more productive. With new knowledge and hard work, farmers will be capable to grow enough crops for their daily needs still have surplus to sell.
